In partnership with my new get healthy plan, I have decided to be vegetarian one week at a time (let's not get ahead of ourselves now.) Last night my brother-in-law requested veil and quail for his birthday dinner (he's from Brazil, which is probably irrelevant). Anyways, I found it somewhat horrifying that anyone would be like "WOOHOO VEIL!!" because ladies and gents, veil is/was at one time a cute little baby cow kept in a dark metal box so that it's legs would grow 0 muscle, therefore producing tender meat. I find it sad. Here's the thing though, I got in an argument with a stranger at work and my family about why i was being hypocritical. I was discriminating against the fully grown animals that are probably not treated any better. I was saving the "awwwwws!" for the babes and not the mothers and the fathers.
So, I'm going on a mission to become a vegetarian. I used to be against it because I thought: the packaged meat in the store is going to waste the more people who turn to this lifestyle, thus, the animal died for no reason, but upon further consideration i can now say that I am one less consumer so there is a tad bit less demand for said animal to die. bam! I refused to eat the cornish game hen that was served last night in replace of quail, veil, and the forgotten rabbit jeeze. There were four little baked bodies covered in gravy/grease sitting in all their midget-ness...poor fellas. So here's to animals!! I respect you so much that I won't eat your grilled/baked/fried/stewed flesh.
P.S. I do not begrudge meat eaters, this is a personal goal and I think anyone who reads my blog is the bees knees.
